Sparkel's Wash

A couple of years ago my dad and I took a trip to Laughlin together. We do this from time to time, take trips just him and I. On our way there, we drove past this wash down off the highway. There was a sign posted that said "Unnamed Wash". We laughed and thought it was so silly that if you were going to go through the trouble of putting up a sign, at least name the darn thing!

We got to Laughlin and while we were checking in at the front desk of the hotel, the man working behind the counter asked my dad if he wanted to add my name to the room so I could have a key. My dad replied sure and told him my name was Shelly...and then he paused and looked at me, and much to my horror asked what my last name was. I was all, "Dad! You don't know my last name?" We laughed and my dad told him that I was his daughter and that I had gotten married (it was like 3 years ago) and he couldn't remember my new name. The man behind the counter had this look on his face like, "surrrreeee...your daughter huh?" He had to be thinking my dad was a cradle robber and that I was some young fling.
I walked away blushing and my dad laughed and decided my name for the rest of the weekend had to be something exotic sounding and he named me Sparkle. And from then on, every family gathering I am reminded of this story!

My dad recently went to Laughlin again and this time he took a picture of the "Unnamed wash" which he proudly named "Sparkels Wash" in my honor. *Please note: My dad is an intelligent Electronics Engineer and makes lots of money working on Naval equipment...and spelled Sparkle wrong.*
