Ok, this is night #1 of "Operation Get Baby to Sleep Through Night"!!!
I visited my friend Jessica today for lunch (which was wonderful!) and she let me borrow some sleep books. I think Kaitlyn is heading in the direction of sleeping through the night. She used to wake up every 3 hours or so and eat a full 4 ounces. Lately she has been waking up at random times and drinking only an ounce or so. It seems she is not needing to eat so much during the night.
So one of the books said that it would take about 5 nights or so for her to learn to go to sleep on her own. As I have started some "bad habits" like always sticking the pacifier back in her mouth or rocking her to sleep, she is relying on me to put her to sleep instead of herself. So I established a bedtime routine and a bedtime of 8:30 pm. I just put her down and we are 5 minutes into crying so far :*( :*( :*( This is very hard for me, as I am sure it is most parents, to just let her cry and not comfort her. The book did say I can go in every 10 minutes until she does fall asleep just to let her know I am there and to say some comforting words, but obviously not pick her up or anything :*( :*( :*( :*( :*( :*(
I will let you know how it goes tomorrow!

Good job Salch! It's so hard the first few nights, but it will be so worth it when she starts sleeping better :) Keep it up and in a few more nights she'll probably be sleeping longer and longer! It was so great to see you yesterday, thanks for coming over :)
