Wow, what a day! On Tuesday evening, around 5:30 p.m., I got a call from my mom saying that they called her to come into the hospital because they had a lung ready for her transplant! In a whirlwind, we all rushed down to La Jolla! She was completely prepped by mindnight, and the doctor came and said the lung turned out to be bad. The lung is the only organ that can't be transported in a container. It has to be removed from the body and transplanted right away. I guess it is common for this to happen, and a lot of people get sent home their first time. My mom, as always, remained positive and we are glad we know what to expect the next time! Matt and I were home and in bed by 2:30 that morning.
Around 4:30, I woke up with severe pain in my lower right back. I know that aches and pains come and go with pregnancy, especially at this stage, but OH MAN! This one wasn't going away and I kept vomiting from the pain. I wasn't "feeling" contractions, but my stomach kept getting tight every 8 minutes or so. I decided to call the hospital and she told me to drink lots of water and see if the contractions went away. I tried but kept throwing up the water. We hopped in the car and went down. I would rather be safe than sorry!! They admitted me around 6 and gave me three shots to stop my contractions which were about 2-5 minutes apart. I was also dilated to 2 cm. They thought I might have kidney stones or an infection so they inserted a catheder (spelling?). OUCH!!! Luckily, it wasn't that. After my three shots, my back pain went away, and they decided to let me go home. I still don't know what that was all about! All I know is that I am 2 cm away from an Epidural and am excited about that! I don't know what real contractions feel like, but if it involves the back pain, NO THANKS!! hahaha So was this false labor? OR was I just unlucky to get a really achy back?

wow Salchy! I'm glad all is well! I actually had some back labor.... it almost feels like someone is stabbing you in the back.... totally different from the intense cramp like pain of a contraction. Have you heard of back labor? Maybe that's what you were having?
Oh I had both, thankfully only 2.5 hours of it until I had my spinal. Sounds like you were having a little of back labor.
I can't help but laugh as we all talk about our birth pains. HA!
Sounds like it will be soon!!
